About Andarl Farm
Our Story
Andarl Farm, based in Castlebar, Co. Mayo, began in 2012 in the most unexpected way. After their mother sadly passed away, we were left with two orphan piglets that needed to be hand-reared. We named them Thelma and Louise, and what started as an act of care quickly became something much bigger.
Looking after Thelma and Louise gave us a real appreciation for pigs, their welfare and the difference that careful rearing can make. What began with two piglets soon grew into a herd, and before long Andarl Farm was born.
From the beginning, our focus was simple: to rear pigs with care and produce pork with exceptional flavour, texture and consistency. As friends, neighbours and local customers began trying our produce, word quickly spread.

Thelma and Louise were at the heart of how Andarl Farm began. Caring for them sparked a genuine passion for pig farming and laid the foundation for the values we still hold today: care, quality and consistency.

How the Farm Grew
We began supplying Velvet Pork to friends and neighbours, and before long restaurants also became interested in our produce. It soon became clear that there was strong demand for high-quality, well-reared pork in the local area.
Their response confirmed what we had already come to believe — when animals are well cared for, you can taste the difference in the meat. That belief continues to guide everything we do today.
As demand grew, Andarl Farm developed from a small local venture into a trusted supplier of premium pork in Ireland, serving restaurants, hospitality businesses, food partners and retail customers.

Awards & Recognition
Our commitment to quality has also been recognised beyond the farm. We are proud holders of the Euro-toques Food Award for 2016 for outstanding contribution to Irish food.
We were also recognised by McKennas’ Guides in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 — recognition that reflects the standards we work to every day and the care that goes into every product we supply.
Working With Trusted Suppliers
As demand has increased over the years, we have expanded carefully and responsibly. To help meet customer needs while maintaining the standards we are known for, we work with a small number of trusted auxiliary suppliers who share the same ethos as Andarl Farm.
Every supplier is personally vetted by us to ensure their pigs are reared to a standard that meets the expectations of Andarl Farm and our customers.
We are now also working with like-minded suppliers of beef and lamb, allowing us to offer a broader range of premium produce while staying true to the principles that built the business in the first place.

Today, Andarl Farm is proud to supply premium pork, beef and lamb from Co. Mayo to restaurants, hospitality businesses, food partners and retail customers.
What started with Thelma and Louise in 2012 remains the foundation of Andarl Farm today: a passion for well-reared animals, a respect for good food, and a commitment to producing meat our customers can trust.
